On a monthly basis, the office here at USPS displays photos taken by the employees, in the elevator lobby area – about a dozen photos, and they also then select a “photographer of the month” and displays 5-6 of their photos in an area near the cafeteria. A month ago, the “photo selection committee” sent out an email to the Eagan employees, indicating they had a couple of selection committee openings due to retirement, etc. I immediately submitted my name ( along with a dozen or more others), and was pleasantly surprised to learn that I’m now a member of this panel – the people who look over the various submissions and decided whose photos to display. I’m tickled pink! I get to see more than just the selected photos on the walls, I now get to see everyone’s submissions, and hopefully, I can learn from this new “photo judge” experiences what makes a god photo “great” and/or share my views/thoughts on the same topic with my fellow selection committee mates. Wow, I am really excited to start this (can’t you tell?)!
