Sometime, in the late ’90s, Microsoft (MSN?) had a very simple tool that allowed a person to create their own website – I did it and created several pages, listing various things about myself, such as my education, where I lived, it even included a list of […].
Anyway, One I created it, I didn’t keep it up or went onto something new and then MS stopped supporting those ‘free’ websites. I still have the web page source code, and I guess I could create screen prints of the various pages to show how awful it really was.
So, as I indicated on my “about me” page, I started this website, using WordPress in the middle of November, 2012.
Along the way, I’ve added several pages – but didn’t keep track of which pages were added when.
I think I’m going to separate out the following comments into separate posting, with each posting having a screen print of the change that the posting is about.
- BLOG – eventually creating several pages of blog related lists:
- list of recent posting – titles only – completed
- a post marquee – showing a different post excerpt every few seconds – completed
- a tabbed table of topic areas – two pages since you can only place 8 topics per table – completed
- About Big-B
- Added links to the blog pages
- Added a FAQ about myself
- Added my saint thomas essay
- Put them under the “about bigb” menu
- Later adding them as links on the ‘about bigb” page itself.
- site map – archive page
- modified my first PHP source code by changing the look of the site map/archive page. Specifically, I switched the position of “pages” from top left to bottom left, “categories” from bottom left to top left, move “authors” from top right to bottom right and added “show post count” to archive/monthly area
- my bucket list -using 2 columns – completed
- the favorite tv series page – 3 column
- Music shelf – still under construction
- Only has a list of fav types of music, fav composers, fav bans, etc.
- would be really cool if i could set it up ala “shelfari”, showing all of my CDs.
- technology shelf – probably the first plug-in i added, but not currently used as I’ve intended. I want it to show off the progression of cell phone techology and my camera
