I just finished chapter ten of “The Martian”, where he’s found “Pathfinder”, and has taken it back to home base, and hooked it up to the battery (or solar cells), and you see the system log, saying the OS is booting, and trying to acquire a signal…
So as I’m about to turn the page to start chapter eleven, you read the log line saying “Signal acquired”, I turn the page and the people at JPL notice the signal from Pathfinder, and in my head (OK, it was out loud), I yell “heck yes!!”, then I remembered it’s just a freaking book, you dummy.
