Well, I’m kinda behind with my posts – it was a busy weekend and start of the week for me.
I just posted pictures of the “Thrust” stage at the Guthrie – and was admonished by the volunteer usher that “ALL” photography was “Verboten!” (even when the musical hadn’t yet started). I guess they don’t want anyone to steal their scenery ideas. Rick and I had a great time, first, while eating at the Guthrie “cafe” beforehand, and then seeing “The Music Man”. Apparently, Rick had a part in this musical when he was in high school. As we were sitting down in our second row seats, he says to me: “pick a song and I’ll sing it”. I chose “76 Trombones”, and “You got trouble [Trouble with a capital T]” – of course, he was able to sing them – at least for a few phrases.
That was my Friday night.
Saturday, a friend and I went to Aamont’s Apple Orchard & Vineyard for one of their Jazz and Wine events. We heard several groups – both “good” and “really good”. Both lounge/fusion jazz and big band/latino jazz (my fav). Finally looked at my watch, and saw it was close to 5pm (having gotten there around 1pm?), so, I guess it was an enjoyable afternoon. I’d taken my camera and monopod with me and shot a few dozen pics of the various bands. May post a few of the better ones later.
Then, later that evening, I had a chance to be with Lallah – and we saw the kid’s movie, “Minions”. She sat on my lap the whole time and was on her very best behavior – all throughout the movie (my first time with her at a movie). She loved seeing the movie – and I really enjoyed holding her as we watched it together. Afterwards, she spent the night, and while reading to her, she just drifted off to sleep. [ok, I admit, it was during my reading aloud to her, from one of my textbooks, not one of hers – oops – “too boring, GranPa, zzzzzz” – lol]
Had her again yesterday for a few hours in the afternoon – and we had a delightful time together. On the way home to my place, I asked if she wanted to go to the ‘water park’. Nope, just wanted to go to my house and play (with me). I asked a couple of more times – and also a couple of times after getting home. Fast forward ahead to about fifteen mins before Jordan arrives to pick her up, and she asks me: “Can we go to the water park now?” LOL
Of course, both Sunday and Monday were spent “studying” for the final exam on Monday night (uh-huh, sure).
Well, that’s the “news” from Beautiful Downtown Apple Valley. Have a great rest of the week, everyone.
