Kinda had an eye opening experience today.
Met BFF Rick at MOA for lunch, etc. Afterwards, we were walking around the mall “shopping”, and I saw a very young child 3-5 yrs old?) being held to their parent via a leash, and commented upon it to Rick. He informed me, that (many, many yrs ago) when his nephew was that age, his mom had to do the same thing since “B” was prone to behavior that may have led to him getting (in Rick’s example to me), “run over by a truck”. I “kinda” saw his point, but this was indoors and, because I truly have limited experience with raising kids (said with full sincerity), and with Lailah being very well behaved – I still question, if a leash is truly needed in a mall area, or even at the state fair or Disneyland, etc.
Do you have an opinion? Is this a matter for more (or better) parenting or are there kids who truly need a leash to control them?
Scratching my head, but maybe actually learning something today…
