Video of car dealership being vandalized (open in new window)
I would like to hear opinions regarding this young adult vandalizing a car dealership. The video (from 3:00 thru 4:10) shows him jumping up and down on a car’s windshield, finally busting it in such a way that he then rips the windshield right off, eventually sliding into the car, butt first. You then are able to see the tail lights are now on. From 5:50 to 6:15, you can see he drives his own car thru the showroom window into the showroom, with the window “exploding” toward the end of that sequence.
While I fully understand that the police officer obviously did not see any of this video before encountering this person, the officer probably was able to see the aftermath of the car driven thru the showroom/showroom window. I do not know whether the officer overreacted with the use of his weapon. Who knows what that person was doing inside the showroom afterward when the officer encountered him. I just know, in my opinion, that if this person hadn’t done any of what he did at that dealership, he would probably be alive today. It did not start with the officer, it started with this person breaking and entering. My opinion would be the same if the person was white, Latino, Asian, or even green. If you don’t want to have misunderstandings with police officers, then don’t do things like this.
