I think you know I have the utmost regard and respect for you.
In my opinion, this strip represents an apples to oranges comparison.
You and many others are missing the point when this example is used: not many mass murderers bring a bat or a rope or a knife to commit mass murder – because the person that wants to kill or hurt multiple innocent people at the same time know they will not be able to achieve their “goal” via those (“single use”) instruments. There is less need to “regulate” rope, knives, or bats since there hasn’t been numerous situations where mass murders are committed using those instruments as opposed to numerous occasions where guns that fire several bullets per second are used, allowing many innocent souls to be murdered in one setting.
I politely and respectfully ask: Could you perhaps try and write/articulate a one (or several) paragraph(s) essay explaining why you think guns are (still) needed in the USA? This may help me understand this issue from your (and other’s) perspective.
Personally, if you use the “it’s our second amendment right”, I find that to be a simpleton’s argument, and we both know you are a much smarter man who should be able to come up with one or more valid reasons for guns (and ammo) not to be”regulated”.
