Lailah – spin art painting

“We” (the “Royal” We) bought this kid’s art device, a splatter/spinner thing-a-ma-bob, in early or mid December. You know, the kind where you put a piece of card stock into it and it spins it around, and you then squirt paint onto the card stock as it spins, causing these multi-colored circle things…

After the first one or two times using it in December, we (not the royal we, but Lailah and I) were out of the paint that came with it. Had to order some more paint online. Since it was christmas time, it was back-ordered, and back-ordered, and…

The new paint finally arrived yesterday during Lalah’s latest visit (isn’t timing wonderful?), I kid you not, the UPS guy drops it off and rings the bell while Lailah and I are in the LR playing.

We retrieve the box from the porch and start spinning up our art works. I keep trying to teach her “less is more” (A concept that my BFF Kelsey Bruso taught me years ago, but I, most of the time do not follow – EVER), and she uses so much of the paint, big squirts rather than little drops…putting blue over the yellow, green over the red, obscuring the lighter colors, then, putting more yellow, then more green, then red, then blue, then finally, some more yellow again. Fortunately, the fun is with the squirting, and we really don’t care how “artsy” it looks, or how much paint we’re using.

This is what we end up with: (see picture).

These were full bottles of paint one half hour prior to the taking of this pic.

[Fortunately, I bought not just one set of new bottles, but two – i know this will last for at least one or two more spinning art “sessions”.]

I would show you the 2 or 3 art pieces she created, but the videographer, numbskull that he is, forgot to take pictures of them, and the spiffy art works are now with Lailah’s mom and dad (hopefully, on their LR wall, already mounted and framed).

wink emoticon
