(Need to find the link for the video of a woman being shamed by an older man because she was breastfeeding in public)
God, I must be really stupid.
I just don’t get what the big deal is about women breastfeeding in public.
My thoughts:
It’s a natural thing.
It’s the feeding of a baby, for Pete’s sake.
It’s definitely not a sexual thing, since a baby is involved. <
So, I have some questions:
- If you are against breast feeding in public, why did you feel the need to shame the mother, when you could have just ignored them or even walked away?
My answer is: you’re a “hater”. You’re a bully. You feel it’s your right to criticize people when this situation had nothing to do with you.
- What is exactly wrong with it? Why is it “disgusting”?
My answer: I have no clue. Can someone explain this man’s reasoning to a simpleton like me?
- A man your age must have seen a woman’s bare breast before – and, assuming you have children of your own (maybe not), were you “disgusted” by your wife doing this in your home? Did she have to “hide” it in front of you, by you making her leave the room?
My answer: I’m betting not. However, if you were disgusted by seeing your own wife nurse your son or daughter, then I wonder how your wife felt when you expressed your “disgusted” feelings to her? I believe her feelings got tremendously hurt, even more than this woman’s, since she couldn’t understand how you (the father of her child) could think such a natural act of her feeding your child could be thought of as “disgusting”.
- Lastly, would you publicly berate your own daughter if she started nursing your grandson in public, while you were with her in a store?
My answer: hopefully not. But, I suspect you would. I think you feel it’s ok, not only to berate strangers, but, because you’re a bully, you would also berate your own daughter in public. You wouldn’t even have the tact to wait until she and you were in your car for you to start your criticism of her actions. I bet you would have humiliated your own daughter in front of everyone, just like you did here. Again, you, Sir, are a bully.
I am shaking my head.
I am glad this woman had the guts to stand up to you.
I’m glad those Target employees all had the guts to stand up to you, and to protect this woman from you.
I would like to know how you are handling your new found fame now that the video has gone viral. How do you explain your behavior to your wife, to your daughter?
Lastly, and most importantly, I am hoping this incident (of you being embarrassed by your actions getting caught on tape), makes you realize that it was your behavior that was wrong, and not this woman’s.
I’m embarrassed by all men who think this way. It makes me so angry that women are treated like this by men who are such Neanderthals.
Women do not deserve this kind of treatment – to be shamed, to be berated. They deserve to be treated with kindness, with love, and with respect.
