Getting there. Glued on the barn doors (and funky windows) to both of the “extensions”, then glued on the two extensions to the building itself (one in front, one on left side). Glued on the two exterior enclosed staircases (one in front, the other on right side). Not happy with the back of the side staircase back wall – need to really weather that up a bit (too dark).
The roof is just mocked on, the unstained barndoors on 2nd and 3rd levels are just mocked up – need to stain them, and add on their “x” framing. Need to put some shingles on the main roof, and on the extension/staircase roofs. Add on the windows for the staircases. The first level left corner recessed freight doorway needs to be started/completed. Exhaust vents, signs. Oh, the celestory thing needs to be built, along with two dormers, and the cupola.
This is probably the third evening with this project – still need two (or three) more evenings to complete. I like most of my weathering so far but the back wall needs something done to it…the dark splotches do not look right.
Remember, this was supposed to be a “false front” building, with only the front half actually showing to the viewer. The back half didn’t exist (in the kit), and a flat cardboard back was to be placed against a wall (see the example picture of the one made by the kit manufacturer). I bought a second copy of this kit – to make the back half.
