Loring Park Art Festival – part 1

Forgot to “check in” yesterday.

Had a really nice day, looking at all the creative art that people produce. I came across a photographer who is local to the twin cities so he had a lot of downtown MPLS photos, and I had chosen one photograph print to buy (either 11×17 or maybe 16×20), unframed since the framed version was three times the cost of the unframed. As I was paying for it, another framed (smaller) print caught my eye and I took it off the wall and told them to add it on (this one was just an 8×10 so the cost of framed print wasn’t too bad). In actually, this guy’s photos framed or otherwise was quite reasonable in price. There are some photographers who just price their stuff so much that’s it just way out of range for the “typical” buyer to be able to afford them. But, I’m really happy with the two I purchased and will post pics of the pics later (lol).

Afterwards and/or during all of this, they also had live music, so we found a couple of unoccupied Adirondack chairs and listened to this really wonderful singer – great voice, great personality, had two guys backing her up on electric piano and bass guitar. She was such a good singer we sat and listened to several of her songs. I thought she was singing “Jazz”, but I guess it was more “Blues”. Fortunately, she told us her name “Annie Mack”, and also that I remembered it. Here is a link to a article about her.

Her website is: www dot anniemackmusic dot com. just might have to find whether or not she’s got music in iTunes or might buy her CD from her website.

But I’m digressing from the beautiful afternoon at the park. While there of course, there were the food trucks and I got myself some fish and chips, which were really good. Also had the coleslaw and it, of course, had to be non-conforming coleslaw – it wasn’t that bad, but just needed more livelier dressing (kinda dry). Topped it off with strawberry lemonade, which hit the spot.

Came home exhausted, and napped for a couple of hours, before going off to see “The Equalizer II”, with Denzel. He is just an awesome actor. Liked the movie, but just a bit much on the bloody side for me. I always watched the tv show when it was on in the ‘80s, with Edward Woodward…

All in all a really good day, great weather (low ‘80s), great company, great things to see and hear. “Doesn’t get any better than this” – lol.
