A few years ago I tried to watch the tv show “Black Mirror”. The first 2-3 episodes of the first season weren’t my cup of tea, and I moved on. At the time I think one or two of you out there suggested I keep watching, and/or recommended this show to me at some point. Its kinda like “Amazing Stories”, the Amblin Entertainment/Spielberg show from the ‘80s (which I was a fan of, way back then), with each episode being a stand alone story.
Tonight, I was going through the list of Emmys that were won this past week, and noticed an episode of Black Mirror had won the award for “OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A LIMITED SERIES, MOVIE OR DRAMATIC SPECIAL” (sorry for the all uppercase, it was a copy/paste). The episode is called “USS Calister”.
So, I decided to watch it.
And, of course loved it.
This particular hour and a half short story episode was about a video game, and its creator, and good vs. evil, but also includes a rip off/parody of something we nerds hold very, very dear to our hearts: Star Trek.
I’m just going to leave it at that.
Watch it. Don’t watch it.
We don’t care.
But, if you do, feel free to share how much you liked it or hated it.
Lol.
We’ll see if I continue to watch this thing – I probably should go back to S1, but I guess that doesn’t matter since each episode is unrelated to the others.
