Feet, in bed, in the middle of the night, are just like dogs, as soon as you let them out (from under the covers), they want to come back in again. In, out, in, out - MAKE UP your mind, darn it all! 👣🔥👣⏳🌬👣⏳🌋👣⏳⛄️ 🗿🚧🗿🚧🗿🚧🗿 🙁😱🙄😉🤓 … [Read more...]

NASA probe lands on Mars – Conspiracy theory???
I live in a cocoon, my own little cocoon. Naively, I’ve lived in this cocoon thinking most people think like I do, that most people believe in Science with a Capital S. That most people do not believe the Conspiracy Theorists. The last 2-3 years have proven me vastly wrong in my view of the intelligence of people in these United States. [this is NOT a post about model railroading, nor is it about … [Read more...]
Bread making – grocery store run
Went to the grocery store this morning, intending on getting the required ingredients for the new Bread Making machine: Bread Flour Dry Milk (didn’t realize there was such a thing) Sugar Salt (already had it) Butter (same) And this little important thing called Active Yeast. Thinking it would run me less than twenty bucks. Ended up spending ~$160. Obviously more than just the above. Just … [Read more...]
TV shows I’m watching
A friend of a friend (of another friend) during Thanksgiving dinner recommended watching Amazon Prime Video’s new show “Homecoming” (with Julia Roberts). I’d seen the preview trailers but couldn’t decide if I would be interested or not. I’m glad this younger gentleman suggested it. Been binge watching for last couple of days, and I’m about to watch the last episode of Season One. Not going to tell … [Read more...]
Thanksgiving day, Pies!
After the usual turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, Brussels sprouts, cranberry sauce, rolls, etc., our host had, not one, not two, not...[ok, we get the idea], but five, count them five different deserts from a (wonderful) desert place called Wouletts. They were: Pumpkin pie Cherry pie Apple pie Triple berry pie, and a Cranberry tart. The thing is, there were only nine of us there for … [Read more...]
Bread Making question
So, Brian, how did it go this morning, making your first loaf of bread?? Uh...I couldn’t get my lazy butt out of bed to go buy the pre made Bread Making machine mix... 🚫🥖🍞🥖🚫 🙄🧐🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁 (infinite sadness - JK) … [Read more...]
Bread Maker arriving today
On my way home on the bus, I remembered my new Bread Maker was being delivered today. The Amazon product listing did not mention whether or not the maker included an initial bread making mix, so I thought I should go buy some after getting off the bus. Knowing Cub Foods would probably be overwhelmed with people doing last minute shopping for the holiday, and because I also needed to go to Michaels … [Read more...]
Thanksgiving proclamation
Have a safe and warm and fun, Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, everyone. Enjoy your time away from work, and enjoy this time with your family, or maybe with your friends. Try not to stress out too much about Uncle what’s his name, or Cousin so-and-so, they were placed in your life for a reason! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Thanks to all of you for your friendship over the years. Brian. … [Read more...]
Bread Maker ordered!
Ordered myself an Oster Bread Maker this afternoon. Should get it by Wednesday afternoon/evening. Gonna try it out that night or first thing Thanksgiving morning. Been invited to share Thanksgiving with a couple of friends - they’re (without them knowing) going to be my guinea pigs. 🥖🍞🥖🍞🥖🍞🥖 😱😉🤓 … [Read more...]
Start of the holiday season
True story. [i wish] Ok, not a true story. [but, it could have happened - just not here in Beautiful, Quiet, Calm, Downtown Apple Valley] Driving home from the transit station just now, I encountered not one, not two, but THREE houses that had their Christmas lights turned on. In each case, I drove up their driveway, leaned on the horn until the owner popped their head out their front door, … [Read more...]
Netflix and new series
Watching the new NetFlix series, “The Kosminsky Method”, aware that there would be several guest cameos. One of whom was to be Ann Margaret. So, in she walks, and I am just STUNNED how amazing she looks. Be still my heart. I cannot believe I’m saying this (out loud) about someone who is in their mid seventies, but she hasn’t aged a bit (as compared to Michael Douglas). Good for you, Ann Margaret, … [Read more...]
Don’t you hate this when it happens?
Get home, unload the backpack/briefcase of some personal papers and iPad, and then notice no work laptop. Ninety nine percent sure it’s still on my desk at work, but that nagging one percent says, it fell out of the backpack between the office to the bus, or getting off the bus. I would expect someone would be chasing me down, yelling about a busted laptop on the bus floor or sidewalk concrete, … [Read more...]
Listening to some good music while working on the hobby
Been working at the project table for last couple of hours, listening to Pandora, on my “Scott Bradlee and Post Modern Jukebox” station. As you already probably know (but in case you didn’t), a Pandora station like this isn’t “all” music by that particular artist - a “station” just plays music of a similar genre, etc. So far, they not yet played a tune I didn’t like - just love this kind of music … [Read more...]
Significant outerwear sale(s) at my fav clothiers
FYI Land’s End is having a 50% off promotion sale (today, at least). “WINDY50” Eddie Bauer is 40% off (today, at least). “COUNTDOWN” LL Bean - no promotion, full price. Guess where I bought my new winter down parka from? Actually I bought one each from the two places that had promotions, and we’ll see which of them fits me better when they arrive next week. This is replacing my trusty twenty … [Read more...]
Grammar and spelling in news media
The state of affairs in grammar/spelling, within the news media: Two news media outlets posted headlines yesterday saying almost the same thing: “so-and-so has just warned people in his fire devastated neighborhood that ‘Looters will be shot on site’...” They were referring to a person posting a warning msg either on their property, or on social media. Normally, when a news media outlet … [Read more...]
Is it that time of year already??
Yesterday I was having lunch with BFF Rick, at a Hamburger joint in the Skyway in (Beautiful Downtown) Minneapolis, and it comes out that Thanksgiving is NEXT week. How come I’m always the LAST person to know?? Did YOU know this?? Not that it matters, but I thought it was in two weeks time. 😉🤓 That’s what I get for never looking at my calendar. I don’t think (current employer) gives us Friday … [Read more...]
Photos by a professional of California’s fires
If you want to see some pictures and video of what’s happening in California, search for “Peter DaSilva” on FB. He’s a professional photog, and while the subject is devastating, his pictures are, well, words escape me since you can’t call a photo of destruction “amazing”, or “beautiful” - not sure what word would be appropriate here. … [Read more...]
Forest fires in California
It’s really gut wrenching to read the news, and seeing the recent photos from California, and realizing people are losing their homes, to another huge forest fire(s). I cannot imagine having to evacuate, and then coming back to find my home gone. Keeping those in California in my thoughts today. 🙁 … [Read more...]
Releasing new software once again at zero dark thirty
Up at 4:45 am to do a software application release/install, with a colleague. Fortunately, this can be accomplished at home. install went fine without any issues. Our testers/validators are scheduled to start testing at 7. Will have to wait until 8 for them to finish with that before (maybe) heading back to bed for a few hours. My body/head does not like getting up this early. I remember doing … [Read more...]
Getting sick at the kitchen table??
This post is a bit gross - you may want to skip it. ==== The weirdest thing just happened (an hour or so ago). I was sitting at the kitchen table, reading some small text on an instruction sheet with my cheaters on. I’d just finished twenty minutes before eating a bowl of cereal, admittedly having my first meal of the day at 1pm (which is highly unusual for me). And, I started feeling dizzy for … [Read more...]
