A friend of a friend (of another friend) during Thanksgiving dinner recommended watching Amazon Prime Video’s new show “Homecoming” (with Julia Roberts). I’d seen the preview trailers but couldn’t decide if I would be interested or not. I’m glad this younger gentleman suggested it. Been binge watching for last couple of days, and I’m about to watch the last episode of Season One. Not going to tell you what’s it’s about, just that it’s pretty “mysterious”. My understanding is Amazon has given the go-ahead for S2. I’m kinda leery about this last episode – most likely it’ll probably gonna be a cliff hanger, and I’m going to have to wait 9-12-15 months for S2 to be released.
I think I need to go back to how I was watching TV a few years ago (2010-201?) when I waited for the entire series to end, before I started watching – I think I did that with Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Fringe, 24, Breaking Bad, Prison Break, The Wire, etc. I don’t think any of those were watched that way intentionally, I think I just became interested in them (watching them on the bus with the iPad) after they finished their run, and/or were cancelled.
Now that House of Cards has been cancelled with the final season (S6) just released (infinite sadness), and same for Mozart in the Jungle, Longmire, Orphan Black, Chance (only two seasons with Hugh Laurie), I think the new/current ongoing favs are:
Tin Star (Tim Roth)
Ozark (Jason Bateman, Laura Linny)
Stranger Things (with a great bunch of child actors, and Winona Ryder, David Harbor)
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (great comedy with Rachel Brosnahan, S2 being released early December)
Billions
Homeland (eighth and final season coming out June, 2019)
Better Things (new comedy with Pamela Adlon)
Good Behavior (with “Mary” from Downton Abbey)
West World (of course)
Added: Counterpart (SyFy mystery, stars J.K. Simmons)
Added: Goliath (unsure if a third season will be coming or not)
Shows to get back to (maybe)…
Mr. Robot (stopped after S2 for no good reason)
Halt and Catch Fire (same)
GoT (stopped after S5, I’m behind a couple of seasons).
Got any recommendations – it’s going to be a long, harsh winter…
