Wow, talk about being motivated. Did four to five errands this morning - yeah, I know, it’s not that big of a deal. But, it’s the simple things...lol Now, I’m going to sit down for a couple of hours and re-watch Amazon’s Jack Ryan (for the third time), before going over to the project bench to start work on either a new kit or finish one of the incomplete builds (probably a new kit!), having … [Read more...]

Republished essay I wrote at the end of 2016
This is something I apparently wrote two years ago. [feel free to skip it if you don’t want to read anything related to our current President.] ==== Tonight, as I try to fall asleep, I'm reminded of an episode of "The West Wing", (from Season One, Ep 14, "Take this sabbath day.") President Bartlett had to decide whether to "stay" an execution that was scheduled to happen in less than 48 … [Read more...]
Watching “All the president’s men” – part two
Well, if you’ve been reading my posts tonight, you will know I’m watching “All the President’s men”. Here is something that occurred to me as I’m watching (I’m about ninety minutes into it, and have about 45 mins left). Follow me while I walk you through this. Most of us all know ”Watergate” all started one evening in June, 1972. It took two yrs for “everything” to come out, and for President … [Read more...]
Watching “All the president’s men” – part one
Watching “All the President’s men” (1976), just started - seen it before, more than forty yrs ago. Bob Redford, and Dustin Hoffman are so, so very young! Not sure if I’m going to watch the whole thing or not... Yes, it’s a slow night at the Williams’ residence. 🎞📽📺 😉🤓 … [Read more...]
Gloating over a day off
It’s Friday! I have the day off! And, I was actually able to sleep an hour past the usual wake up time! [yes, it’s the little things in life that excite me] Got so much to do today, hopefully the energy level will keep up with the motivation level, and today’s accomplishments will number in the hundreds! [ok, maybe we’ll try for just “dozens” of accomplishments] First things first: let’s … [Read more...]
Nice email from friend about my FaceBook memories
So, I received a nice email inquiry from a special friend of mine just now. Here it is in its entirety. My response is below it. And, basically, I’m not just apologizing to my friend, but to all of you. ==== Brian, This afternoon I went on to facebook. My feed was overwhelmed by dozens of "Brian Williams shares a memory." Barely anyone else's posts got through. Do you do this? Is there a … [Read more...]
Watching a really old movie
In the hotel room, working on a (new) modeling project, BUT, with the tv on, which is playing “Hunt for Red October”! That movie never ever gets old. Yes, I’m pretty sure I know almost every line almost everyone says. [jk] “Somebody must have a burr up his a$$ to do a stunt like this”. “Jack, next time, just write a <…> damn memo” Etc. Etc. Etc. … [Read more...]
Model Railroaders collecting stuff
From an eBay auction item description. ==== “...This item is from a family member’s train Empire that was never completed. I am not a business, Just selling items from a family member’s very, very large train Empire/Hoard. A collection from a 50 + year Passion/Addiction that I am unable to use on my own Empire.“ ==== Yup. Pretty much sums it up for those of us in this hobby. Although the … [Read more...]
The drive to Appleton
I had a simple choice: I could either fly or drive to Appleton. The inner voice (over the shoulder), speaking in my ear said, “hey, let’s drive, it’ll be fun”. Last time I’m going to listen to that little jerk, let me tell you. Honestly, if I can do 700 mile/12 hour drives to Detroit (and back), I should be able to handle a 285 mile/4.5 hour drive. I am just beat. The first couple of hours were … [Read more...]

“New” book on Watergate – compilation of Wash. Post stories
I noticed a “new” book about Watergate while looking at books within Amazon’s Kindle area. It’s called “The original Watergate stories”, by “The Washington Post”. Published in 2012. Looks to be a compilation of all the Washington Post Watergate newspaper stories, written by Bob Woodward, and Carl Bernstein. The Kindle edition is only $3. So far, I’ve only read the foreward, which, although … [Read more...]
Memories of Ruby Joyce’s birth
A memory from a year ago. Katie McCormick ==== Got another look at the littlest little girl tonite (still at the hospital with her mom & dad). Ruby woke up a couple of times for a couple of very short two to three second periods of time. Didn’t hold her tonight, but got a very short look at her beautiful eyes before she closed them again. Ruby’s mom is pretty exhausted from lack of sleep … [Read more...]

Haircuts
What is it about me that dislikes going to get my haircut?? Been needing one for a week or two, but it’s always a struggle - ok, not always, since there have been times when I was getting my hair cut by the same person for years, and I didn’t dread going then. It’s just when I’m going to these non-appointment salons where you get a “new/different” person each time you go, that is when my … [Read more...]
Pinching pennies
Ordered something from Amazon the other day, it arrived last night, didn’t have to pay shipping due to Amazon Prime service. Item cost me ~10 bucks. It’s the wrong size (my fault, not theirs). Was about to return it, learned it was going to cost me $6 bucks to do that, as well as a trip to the UPS store. So, I can either order the right size version, and not return the wrong size, essentially … [Read more...]
Memory of first Target Greatland
Lump on a couch tonight. But here is a short story for you, before I turn on Season two of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (Amazon Prime). I went to the newly remodeled Tar’get tonight after work for the first time since its reopening (of a few months ago). The store went from being a “Target Greatland” size, to a “Super Target” size. We actually have two Targets in AV, the one furthest from me … [Read more...]
Launching a thousand ships??
“He smiled up at Brigit from his seat beside the bed, her ample bosom framing her pissed-off expression perfectly. She was not a bad looking woman, truth be told; a couple of years older than himself, short brown bobbed hair, decent figure –she wouldn’t be launching a thousand ships any time soon but she’d undoubtedly create a fair bit of interest in a chip shop queue”. ==== “Launching a … [Read more...]

Reading glasses
Broke my last spare pair of reading glasses an hour ago. Big sigh. I knew I should have gotten the two dozen value pack. 😱🙄😉🤓🙁 Well, I’m off to either CVS, or Sam’s Club. Fortunately, last night’s snow storm is over and the roads have been cleared, and it’s a balmy 30 degrees out there. 🤓 … [Read more...]
Funny story – not mine
true story. Ok, it’s not my true story, but someone’s, maybe, I think. I was at a local bar when a woman at a table a few feet away from me sneezed and her glass eye came out and I caught it. I handed it back to her and she popped it in and said thank you. She was a beautiful woman. Gorgeous face stunning body and a beautiful smile to boot. The woman of my dreams right in front of me. A few … [Read more...]
