TV watching – French show – subtitles, etc.

So, I just started watching a French espionage tv series a few minutes ago, it’s (obviously) in French, with English subtitles. After a few mins of watching, I reach for the remote to turn up the volume. Not sure why, since I don’t speak any French. 😱🙄😉🤓 … [Read more...]

Bob Woodward’s latest book

Apparently I didn’t order Bob Woodward’s latest book early enough. Ordered it via Amazon on Saturday, expecting it would be delivered on Tues (the day it was due to be released) or Wed. Got an email from them yesterday, saying it would be delivered sometime between sept 25, and Oct 9th. I hear they printed an unprecedented million copies due to the demand. Very unlike Amazon to give such a wide … [Read more...]

A post from a model railroader regarding creative hobbies

The following is a post from a Model Railroading group, BUT is generic enough for ALL hobbyists, whether the hobby is quilt-making, woodworking, crocheting, whatever. [for every model railroad jargon word below, insert a jargon word from your particular hobby.] ==== THE SUNDAY EVENING POST (Dave Pye) THE CASUAL MODELER Not every modeler has to be an all-out, “REAL” model railroader, if for no … [Read more...]

Great quote from Charlton Heston

A great quote. Charlton Heston wrote in his autobiography, In the Arena, that The Omega Man (the 1971 movie) was Rosalind Cash's first leading role in a film, and that she was understandably "a little edgy" about doing a love scene with him. Heston explained, "It was in the seventies that I realized a generation of actors had grown up who saw me in terms of the iconic roles they remembered from … [Read more...]

VP Pence interview

From a CNN article, dated this morning. ==== "I mean the truth of the matter is over the last eight years despite what we heard from President Obama on Friday, I mean this country was struggling ... it was the weakest economy since the Great Depression," Pence said. [BSW: Shaking my head. Yes, the Great Recession started toward the end of President George W. Bush’s presidency in the summer/fall … [Read more...]

Random thoughts

[don’t read this - it’s just totally random and miscellaneous thoughts] It’s really been a strange week for me (for a variety of reasons) - I’m off on vacation all week, and have been doing a lot of physical hard labor (over a period of a few days), and I’m just exhausted from it - over the weekend, moving all the junk from the garage into a U-haul truck so that a new garage door can be … [Read more...]

eBay account “hacked” – huh

Wow, oh, wow. I don’t check my personal email more than once a day, and only usually check it at lunch time or in the evening. So, I was just checking my email an hour ago, and i saw an email from 6:30am, from eBay indicating I had just changed my eBay email address to something new - not indicating what the new email address is, but did indicate the ip address of the request - the ip address … [Read more...]

Remarks on Ozark S2

[I don’t think I’ve included any spoilers here.] In the middle of S2 of Ozark - it just keeps getting better and better. Love Jason Bateman and how cool (calm) his character is. Love “Wendy” stepping up and getting more involved. Love “Ruth” and her attitude. Still love “Buddy” and his old guy sense of humor, and wisdom. Glad to see they’ve brought back (slowly) a few characters from last season … [Read more...]

Grocery delivery – and paper thin margins for grocers.

I just don’t get how these things work. I’m talking about free grocery delivery. First, let me say this (since I wouldn’t want people to think I’m totally stupid), yes, I know, Amazon has big pockets and their most profitable division (AWS) is probably propping up the grocery delivery services. But, there is now, “Instacart”, and “Shipt“, as well as perhaps, many others. I’m assuming everyone is … [Read more...]

Another darn Twitter quote

Today’s Most Presidential quote: "Our Justice Department and our FBI - at the top of each, because inside they have incredible people - but our Justice Department and our FBI have to start doing their job and doing it right and doing it now," Trump said. Quotes from a Reuters article

Reuters - U.S. President Donald Trump criticized social media companies on Friday, saying without evidence that they have silenced "millions of people" in an act of censorship. Trump did not mention any companies by name. On Tuesday, Facebook Inc, Twitter Inc and Alphabet Inc removed hundreds of accounts tied to an alleged Iranian propaganda operation, while Facebook took down a second campaign … [Read more...]

Quote of the decade

Quote of the decade: “I don't know how you can impeach somebody who has done a great job,” Mr Trump told Fox News. “I will tell you what, if I ever got impeached, I think the market would crash. I think everybody would be very poor because, without this thinking, you would see – you would see numbers that you wouldn't believe, in reverse.” … [Read more...]

New email address for me – JK

So, you know how FB informs you of your friends birthdays? Today, it told me that a former colleague will be celebrating his b-day in a couple of days. Being “curious”, I went to his FB “about” page to find out how old this gentleman is, and I found something which rang home with me, his email address is MacysGrandPa@whatever.com Over the last few yrs, he’s posted a number of pics of his … [Read more...]

Movie: Peacock

Watched a really different movie tonight, “Peacock”, staring Cillian Murphy (whom I find to be always seemingly play very bizarre characters), Ellen Page, Susan Sarandon, and Bill Pullman. It’s kinda mystery, psycho thriller. Not scary though. If you intend to watch it, don’t read up on it before watching - it’ll ruin one of the many plot twists. Less than ninety mins long. … [Read more...]

People behind me on the bus

I’m on the bus, riding home, directly behind me are two women, with a toddler and a baby, all of whom are making tons of noise. And, you know what?? I’m ok with it. Seven years ago, I would be having a cow, giving them the evil eye, quickly turning my head around, and just as quick turning it back to facing forward. I would be steaming, the steam would be coming out of my ears by the … [Read more...]

Tv Show “Better Things” – hilarious scene – “No!”

This is one of the most hilarious scenes I’ve ever seen. I laughed my head off all throughout it. I’m sorry to say, if you don’t know the context, you may not think it as funny as the people who’ve seen the beginning of the episode, and/or understand the context of their “friendship/relationship”, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuFulZY6Qz0&feature=share … [Read more...]
