A fav blogger of mine wants to give up…

One of my fav FB bloggers made a decision a week ago to take a break from writing, but then wrote the following post this morning.

My South Carolina Life

You might want to read her post first (to understand the context) before reading my comment to her:

Susan, I had a friend over this morning, and while they were doing something in the kitchen, I got onto FB for a few mins, and noticed your most recent post. So, I read it, first to myself (of course), then felt the need to read it aloud to my friend. I then had to explain the context, and who you were (and how I knew you, etc). And, also shared with them, that you and your blog writing, inspires me to write more. My friend sometimes encourages me to write, but they (and/or their so-called “friends”) also think I share too much on FB. They are “embarrassed” by my writing, by my (“over”)sharing, especially with regard to my interactions with my 4 yr old (step-)granddaughter. I say who cares, and use you (among others), as an example of people writing their thoughts and their feelings down, and sharing them with others and how much people truly enjoy reading what you write.

I think – those “friends” of my friend – they don’t understand – because they aren’t “readers” – they don’t like to read, they don’t “enjoy” reading – so, they feel the need to be Nay-Sayers. They always feel a need to complain about something – because they either don’t understand the process of writing, or the reason/need for our writing, or even why we’re writing (for other’s reading enjoyment), or they are just haters, in general.

I say: “To heck with them”.

Susan, you’re a wonderful writer, you have a following (of people that like what you write), and there will be times (at least for me), when you’ve written “so much” that you need to take a break – whether it’s for a day, a week, or whatever – to reenergize – your brain, your thoughts, your body.

Take all the time you need – your followers will still be here, awaiting your next post.

Always your friend,
Brian.
