IQ tests and my recent dishwasher experience

Came across a IQ test here on FB this morning. Didn’t have anything to do (other than the normal Saturday morning errands, the garage, the chores, etc.). Anything to get out of those jobs, so I took it. You had to discern twenty pattern recognition examples in twenty mins. I think I did alright, finishing with plenty of time to spare (5-6 mins left on the clock?), and only had one or two that I spent a lot of time on, almost stumping me.

But, once a person finishes this really excruciating intelligence test, then you found out they want $20 from you to see the results.

Huh.

Fortunately, I already know how smart I am – smart enough not to pay $20 for an IQ test, but dumb enough to spend 15 minutes of my precious Saturday morning taking the test.

Why are we telling you this story – to tell you this next one.

This week, I’ve been having an issue with the dishwasher. I’ve done the same load six (count them, six) times. I know how many times I’ve done this same load since I have six of those detergent pod things sitting on my counter with them only partially opened. After each load finished, I would open the dishwasher door, and there the pod(s) have laid, still in the door mechanism that’s supposed to eject them into the dishwasher at the appropriate time. Of course, without the dishwasher detergent pod being injected, the dishes were not cleaned. Each time the washer ran, without cleaning the dishes, it then ran the dry/heat cycle, and baked on whatever crud was still on the dishes.

Six times.

Each time, making sure the mechanism’s spring door was working, making sure the pod wasn’t sticking to anything inside the mechanism, etc.

Upon the sixth attempt, I finally saw what I had failed to see previously.

I’d placed a large skillet cover on the side of the bottom rack, more toward the front, than toward the back, and the spring door was hitting the skillet cover, and the cover was preventing the spring door from opening fully.

Moved the skillet cover more toward the back, and placed pod #7 into the mechanism, turned the machine on, and waited, and waited, and after an hour or two, the dishwasher finished doing its job, and I opened the door, and will wonders never cease, the pod had disappeared!

It was a miracle!

The dishes, however, are a joke – there is a gritty texture now on them, after so many washes without the detergent, that I now have to soak them in vinegar – this is similar to having hard water, and needing the use of a water softener, but you’ve forgotten to fill the thing with salt – same thing happens. Vinegar takes care of that (according to Google, and personal experience).

Yeah, I’m not the brightest bulb on the tree.

But, we already knew that, didn’t we??

I guess I should have just stayed in bed this week.

😱🙄😉🤓
