Bread Maker arriving today

On my way home on the bus, I remembered my new Bread Maker was being delivered today. The Amazon product listing did not mention whether or not the maker included an initial bread making mix, so I thought I should go buy some after getting off the bus. Knowing Cub Foods would probably be overwhelmed with people doing last minute shopping for the holiday, and because I also needed to go to Michaels (the crafts store), I went to this place next to Michaels called ”Fresh Thyme” (an organic grocery store, me, going to an organic grocery store – ha-ha). They, of course, didn’t have any bread maker mix, but they did have some mix for cornbread, to be made the “old fashion” way. I bought that, not sure why though. On the other side of Michaels is Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Went there, knowing they sell kitchen counter appliances- and, they actually had a Cusinart bread maker there, BUT, no bread making mix either! I asked a sales associate who was standing in the area where to go, and they said, Cub, Tar’get, or Walmart would carry bread maker mixes. By this time, I’m worn out (my first stop was at Sam’s Club, but that in of itself is a whole nother story, as they say), and I just head for home, not wanting to endure the last minute shopping crowds at any of those places.

I pull into the driveway, and there is my shiny new Oster Bread Maker sitting on my front porch. Took it inside, and opened the box, my, what a big device you are, I said to it. It’s like a foot by a foot by a foot cube, just a bit bigger than I expected. And, yes, as I guessed, it did not come with a “starter” kit of mix. I mean, how much would that add to the cost of the product – a dollar or two??

Anyway, I’m gonna get my butt out of bed first thing in the morning, and head over to Cub, and get me some mix, and start a batch, hoping it’ll be done before leaving for Thanksgiving dinner in the afternoon.

So far, I’ve only read a small portion of the forty page “user guide/manual”, before I nodded off. Actually, half of those forty pages are bread recipes, so there are twenty pages of how to use the dad blame thing. I’ll be more up to reading this tomorrow morning.

Anybody want some old fashion oven made cornbread??
