I had a simple choice: I could either fly or drive to Appleton. The inner voice (over the shoulder), speaking in my ear said, “hey, let’s drive, it’ll be fun”.
Last time I’m going to listen to that little jerk, let me tell you.
Honestly, if I can do 700 mile/12 hour drives to Detroit (and back), I should be able to handle a 285 mile/4.5 hour drive.
I am just beat. The first couple of hours were fine. Then, I-94 goes South, while I still needed to travel further East – but no freeways continuing East. Much of the last two hours was on rural/county road (WI Highway 10, if anyone cares). Not sure why I’m venting since the majority of the run was clear sailing – didn’t run into any slow traffic at all on the county road which would have caused much frustration.
But I’m still beat, for some reason. Old age I’m guessing, last road trip was five years ago (no, check that, last road trip was coming out here two yrs ago when I first started with ).
Fortunately, they put me up in a really nice hotel across from the HQ, and, the hotel has a “pretty nice” dining room – kind of a limited menu, but it did beat having to eat at some fast food place upon my arrival. Had some pretty good buffalo chicken tenders as an appetizer, and a really good “American” hamburger (with Thousand Island dressing!!)
It’s way too early to hit the hay…
I did bring some of my modeling projects with me to work on in the hotel room each night. I have this really nice “suite”, with a tv/desk/reading area totally separate from the actual bed area, it’s kinda cool/different.
[i need to get out more often…]
More tomorrow.
