Tall Tales

Ok, here are some “tall tales” from the life of BSW – one didn’t really happen to me, but the other three did.

Story #1:  It’s my birthday when I was a youngster, and someone close to me gets me two shirts, one blue, one red.  The next day, I put on the blue shirt to wear and “come downstairs”, and the persons says (wait for it):  “What’s wrong, didn’t you like the other one?”

Story #2:  I used to lease the cars that I drive, and my current lease was coming to an end one year, and I just had spent several months trying to “find” the next “right” car for me.  I eventually leased this 1991 Acura Legend (a very nice car at the time), and drove it into work the next day, and wanted to “show it off” to a very good friend whose opinion I greatly valued (at the time, not anymore!), and he asked what did I get?  I tell him, and he says “what a piece of S***” (him having the ‘buy only american’ mindset).

Story #3:  My (ex)wife and I came across a home for sale when we weren’t even in the market for buying a home at the time, but this home was such a good value, since it was quite affordable, AND, it also sat on a lake, that we made an offer and it was accepted.  I then took some pictures of the interior (showing the various rooms, but also the kitchen which had this very bright cobalt blue counter top), exterior, as well as a couple of shots of the lake from the backyard, and mailed them to a close relative whose opinion I valued, wanting to share with them my good fortune and news.  I waited a couple of days to ensure they got the pics, and then called them on the phone:  “Hi, how are you, did you get the pics?”, “Well, yes, I did, and, I think you’re making a huge mistake, buying that house, having those awful blue kitchen counters, I wouldn’t have them in my house!”

Story #4:  [some background first:  keep in mind that my garage is not currently used for parking cars but for the model railroad project].

So, I found a great deal recently, one of my FB friends is selling a used jetski for a decent asking price (compared to how expensive they are when buying them new).  I normally don’t like to buy used motorized stuff since you really don’t know if the person selling it took good care of it, or if they beat it to heck.  Anyway, like I said, I’ve known this couple for many yrs, and I trust them.  So, I share this good fortune with <”them whose name cannot be uttered aloud”, aka “the companion”> and (remember my background comment about the garage), they say:  “And, just where the heck are you going to keep it?”.

There is a common thread with these 3 or 4 stories – I’ll let you figure it out.
